Here are easy maintenance steps you can take to keep your plumbing system in top shape:

Faucets and sinks

Small faucet drips can waste up to 150 gallons of water in one day. That’s thousands of gallons of water wasted in a year, without timely repair. Water heater

Before starting your own maintenance check, make sure to turn off the power and be familiar with your owner’s manual. We recommend that you drain water from your tank at least once every three months. This will help prevent too much sediment buildup at the bottom of your unit’s tank, which can decrease its efficiency.

Make sure to check your water heater’s burner as well. The flame inside should be blue, tipped with yellow. If the flame looks mainly yellow, or if the burner looks like it has soot accumulating, there is likely a clogged. You will need to have the unit inspected by a technician.

 

Look to us for additional maintenance checks and tune-ups, such as checking for leaks (in the drain valve) and corrosion (in the anode rods). We recommend professional water heater maintenance at least once every two years.

Toilets

Leaking toilets can waste several hundred gallons of water in a day as well. A simple yet effective way to check for subtle leaks is to perform the dye test. Add a small drop of red food coloring in your toilet tank. Then, check the bowl after a while. If the water has turned red, water is seeping through from the tank.
