What are the Different Types of Sump Pumps?
There are three major types of sump pumps available: conventional, battery backup, and combination. Each pump may be either elevated or submersible, with elevated pumps sitting above the sump basin and submersible pumps sitting inside of it.
The conventional pump is an electrically powered pump that is connected to the home’s power supply.
The battery backup pump, as the name implies, has a battery that is continuously charged by the home’s electricity, and will take over for the main pump in case of a power outage.
The combination pump combines these two concepts, usually with a battery backup system for a conventional pump.

How Messy is the Installation Process?
The installation is actually very simple. A hole is dug in the foundation of the basement and gravel is poured in, partly filling the hole. On top of and inside of the gravel sits a basin containing the sump pump; this basin allows water to collect and be removed by the sump pump. The basin is then secured to the home’s foundation and the pump connected to power–and the process is complete!
